The sacred medicine that attracts tech CEOs

Testimonies about healing with ayahuasca, the effects of this ancestral medicine can cause a person to see life differently, heal traumas from their past and have creative ideas that, in normal times, would never have occurred to them.

A “totally incredible” experience. With those words, Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI —the parent company of ChatGPT—, joined the leaders of the technology elites who have experimented with sacred plants such as ayahuasca, a trend that seems to be on the rise in recent times.

Altman recounted, in conversation with the Life in Seven Songs podcast, that he used to be a “very anxious and unhappy” person, until he tried psychedelics that changed his perspective on life and turned him into a “calm” person.

“If I had been told that a weekend retreat in Mexico could significantly change that, I would have said absolutely not,” however, after experiencing it first hand, the tycoon said that “it really did.”

Ayahuasca is a sacred Amazonian plant that helps heal past traumas and see life differently, through an introspective journey. The ceremonies must be led by shamans who guide the experience.

And, this sacred medicine is becoming attractive to several technology leaders in the world because it can improve creativity and “help” with anxiety and other disorders, but it would also have a dark or negative side if not done with the right people.
